How to track your photo shoot outfit inventory
You know that dreaded feeling that you forgot something? Did you collect every earring? Did you forget to put both shoes in the box? Why is there an extra hanger??
Stop flying by the seat of your pants. Start keeping notes of each item in your photo shoot outfit inventory list. It also protects your models and team from suspicions of theft. Preparing for a photo shoot can get very overwhelming (unless you have our FREE Photo Shoot Checklist for busy boutiques). Once it is over, it’s very easy to feel elated from a successful day and start overlooking things as you pack up. Here are some details you should note in your outfit inventory list (download our FREE Outfit Inventory List for Photo Shoots to make it easy):
Record date, model name, and sizes. This will keep outfits from getting mixed up and creating confusion on the day of the shoot.
Give each outfit a number. If you have many models, label each outfit that should coordinate in the photo series. For example: Emily’s Outfit #1, Jennifer’s Outfit #1, and Kelsey’s Outfit #1 will be photographed together.
Note the product type. Did you pack a dress for outfit #1? Or was it jeans and a tee? Make it easy to glance at these details.
Write down the SKU# or product name of each item. When your photo shoot is over, it will be helpful to know these details for social media captions, blog posts, and linking to product webpage.
Make a note of size. Customers like to know how a product fits real people. You can mention these details in the image descriptions on your website, in your blog posts or on social media.
Record each product’s price. This is also important information for sharing in your posts and social media. It will also prevent you from hunting products on the store floor or in your inventory management system. Then total the price of each outfit at the end. This is helpful if you want to say: Get this whole look for $156!
Check off as your pack up each product. No more questioning if you forgot something back at the location. This will keep you organized and help you have a worry-free evening.
Jot down important notes. Did something fit different? Do customers need to size up or down with a certain product? Make a note if something gets damaged or might need some dry cleaning. These notes will make sure you follow-up on important tasks when you get back.
